The admissions process is a partnership between each family and the school. Admission is the beginning of a long-term connection between a family and the NewGate community that will last long beyond the student’s time of enrollment, The overarching question is how well the school resources can meet the needs and interests of the student. Our goal at NewGate is to create a relationship that is supportive and collaborative, acting in the best interests of all.

How to Apply

  1. Register to attend a weekly tour or open house. Age 1 to Grade 6 or Grades 7-12
  2. Complete the application online and pay the application fee
  3. Request from your current school copies of transcripts, previous test results, and two teacher recommendation forms.
  4. Once the application materials have been received, we will contact you to schedule a shadow visit for your student applicant.
  5. After the shadow visit, the application process is complete and an admission decision can be made.

We invite you to ask questions, schedule individual meetings, or plan a classroom observation. Call us at 941-922-4949 or email to [email protected]

The Shadow Visit

Toddlers & Early Childhood

We invite children applying for our Toddler Community (12 months – 3 years) to meet with a classroom teacher for about 30 minutes. This meeting allows the child a brief visit to the school and to experience one of the learning environments.

Applicants for the Early Childhood Program (ages 3-6) will typically spend one morning arriving at the start of school and staying through lunch with us. We may ask to administer a developmental screening during this visit.

Elementary, Middle, and High School Applicants

Applicants will typically spend one or two full days attending classes. During the shadow experience, students are encouraged to participate fully in classes and to complete academic assessments that give us a better sense of their present levels of work across a variety of subjects.

After the shadow visit, the admissions committee reviews the application and makes a determination. If the committee makes a favorable decision, you will receive an offer of enrollment. The final step is to complete the enrollment packet and pay the enrollment deposit to secure your child’s place!

We look forward to talking with you about NewGate and learning about your child.
