Due to the holiday this week, New Gate School hosted a combined packing of their backpack program and Riverview High Schools’ program on Wednesday, January 20.  Vanessa Alvarez, the student officer for the New Gate School – BackPack Program organized the student volunteers to set up and pack 330 bags of food for students of low income families who are at risk of hunger over the weekends.  These food bags are distributed every Friday to students at Glen Allen, Brentwood and Wilkinson Elementary so they can come back to school on Monday morning ready to learn!   New Gate Alumni Rebekah Leopold, who runs the same program at Riverview High, brought some students from RV to help with the packing.
