New Gate High School: "Serve and Learn"

New Gate High School’s "Serve and Learn" program places students in service positions that are meaningful to students and valuable to the community.

Two of our students are coordinating and organizing the Warren BackPack Program with the guidance of Julie Kaminer and funding by private families.

The goal of the Warren BackPack Program is to provide all 10 title one elementary schools in Sarasota County with food for their most "at-risk" students over the weekend. In some cases, the only food some children get is through the school lunch program. On weekends, they can often go hungry.

Out of the 16 years I have attended New Gate, I am honored to say that the teachers and faculty have given me the best present anyone has to offer: knowledge. Without the teachers caring so much about my education and me, I wouldn’t be who I am today. I thank my parents’ everyday for choosing New Gate, a place where you learn about independence, service, and achievement as well as academic classes
