
The NewGate School is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), non-stock education corporation incorporated in Sarasota, Florida.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance and management of the school, including the long range vision for the school. Their primary duties are to employ and work collaboratively with the head of the school and to get financial contributions. They have a fiduciary responsibility to work with the Head on financial matters and approve the annual budget. Much of the Board’s work is done through committees, which often include faculty, staff, or parent representatives, and which meet throughout the year
The Board:
- Meets monthly
- Board members are selected for two year terms (unless completing the term of an unoccupied seat on the Board)
- Has four elected officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and a Treasurer)
- Has four standing committees: Finance, Audit, Trustees, and the Executive Committee (composed of its officers)
- Much of the Board’s work is done through committees, which often include faculty, staff, or parent representatives, and which meet throughout the year
The Head of School is the chief executive officer of the School. The Head is charged with implementing the School’s long-range plan and overseeing the effective administration of all aspects of the School’s operations.
